ESR Support Programmes for ECR 2026 – Rays of Knowledge

The European Society of Radiology is proud to offer exclusive support programmes to help early-career professionals and students participate in ECR 2026. To see if you qualify for a programme, please read below and follow the steps to apply.

Invest in the Youth

For ECR 2025, ESR offers 1000 places for young residents, radiographers in training and physicists undertaking their PhD.

Accepted applicants receive accommodation support of €300 and free congress registration.

Acceptance notifications will be made in December, and please be aware that previously paid registration fees are non-refundable.

For radiology residents, PhD physicists, and radiographers in training, this programme offers:

  • Free congress registration
  • €300 accommodation support

Eligibility:

  • Radiology residents and PhD physicists under 35 years old*
  • Radiographers in training under 30 years old*
  • Must be submitting and presenting author of an abstract for ECR 2026
  • Must be ESR member or friend for 2025

*Age limits apply as of March 8, 2026.

Notifications sent December 2025.

For the selection of final recipients, abstract acceptance, geopolitical spread and previous inclusion in the programme are considered. The ESR reserves the right to grant support at its sole discretion.

Applicants must use the same ESR personal ID for their programme application and for their abstract submission(s).

Shape your Skills

The ‘Shape your Skills’ programme is dedicated to radiographers in their professional careers.

Application is open to all radiographers:

  • Who are active ESR members for 2025
  • Who are submitters of an abstract (oral or poster)

Designed for radiographers in their professional careers, this programme offers:

  • Free congress registration
  • €300 accommodation support

Eligibility:

  • You are an ESR member radiographer
  • You are submitting and presenting an abstract for ECR 2026 – Rays of Knowledge

How to apply:

  • Select “Shape your Skills Application” during abstract submission
  • Send proof of profession to [email protected]

Student Abstract Submission

Student abstract submission is a programme offered by the European Society of Radiology for young undergraduate medical students to present their work at the ECR “European Congress of Radiology).

Undergraduate medical students can submit abstracts and have the chance to:

  • Be one of the 20 best abstract submitters invited to present their work at ECR 2026 Rays of Knowledge.
  • Selected students will receive an economy class round-trip flight or train ticket, 4 nights of accommodation in a pre-selected hotel, free congress registration for ECR 2026, and a certificate after the congress.

Please choose one of the following topics when submitting your abstract:

  • My scientific paper in sustainability in everyday life. 
  • My educational or social project at my university.
  • My scientific paper in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
  • My first scientific paper in imaging (general radiology).

Eligibility: Students under 30 years old who have not yet graduated (those in postgraduate studies or residency are not eligible for this programme)
