Motivation & Experience
Radiology is a fascinating and constantly evolving discipline. The radiologist leads the imaging orchestra with the support of radiographers, nurses, technical-administrative staff, and related professions (medical physicists, medical informaticians, bioengineers, etc.). However, radiology needs sustainability to continue existing as a discipline that unites all the professional figures who possess the relevant expertise.
In my view sustainability must be guaranteed through the following main lines of action:
- Promote training in radiology (in residency programs and university degree courses) to combat the shortage of radiologists and radiographers).
- Defend imaging skills through continuous literacy/education for new generations (such as in ultrasound, and cardiovascular imaging).
- Increase the visibility of the radiologist by promoting direct communication with patients (for example, in communicating the results of the radiological exam and establishing stable contacts with patient associations).
- Educate radiologists and radiographers on the reasoned use of artificial intelligence, avoiding the automation bias.
In my career as medical doctor, researcher, and university professor, I have gained solid experience in clinical coordination, research groups, and medical teaching; in the role of Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, I was able to better understand the issues of the other disciplines with which the radiologist interacts, thus grasping how it is possible to add value to radiology. With these goals, I hope to work on the Board of Directors, giving a distinctive mark to the future of the European Society of Radiology, to which I have been actively connected since it was created by global visionary leaders of the radiological community.

Vision Statement
It is with profound respect for the legacy and future of the ESR that I submit my candidacy for the position of 2nd Vice President. I have been actively connected to the ESR, since its foundation by global visionary leaders of the radiological community, and I believe that now is a critical moment to build upon that strong foundation.
Radiology is an inherently fascinating and constantly evolving discipline. The radiologist serves as the lead of the imaging orchestra, supported by a vital ensemble of radiographers, nurses, technical-administrative staff, and related professions—including medical physicists, medical informaticians, and bioengineers. This multidisciplinary synergy is what makes our field so crucial to modern medicine. However, to ensure our continued relevance and excellence, radiology must secure sustainability as a unified discipline that embraces all these essential professional figures who possess the relevant expertise.
In my view, the long-term sustainability and growth of radiology must be guaranteed and propelled through the following main lines of action:
1. Promoting Comprehensive Training and Education
We must vigorously promote training in radiology—in both residency programs and university degree courses. The most immediate threat to our discipline is the shortage of radiologists and radiographers. This deficit affects patient care, strains existing staff, and hinders innovation. My strategy would involve a three- pronged approach:
- Standardization and quality control: working with national societies and educational bodies to standardize high-quality residency training across Europe on the basis of the ESR training curriculum, ensuring every resident has access to the cutting-edge knowledge and technology required for the future.
- Recruitment initiatives: launching targeted campaigns to attract the brightest students to both radiology and radiography programs, highlighting the dynamic career paths, research opportunities (in this regard, the ESR Modern Radiology eBook is an essential instrument to teach radiology and attract students).
- Continuous professional development enhancement: elevating the quality and accessibility of professional develoment programs to ensure practicing radiologists and radiographers can
effortlessly update their skills, especially in fast-moving subspecialties (the strong support to the European School of Radiology is the key of this action).
2. Defending and honing core imaging skills
As technology rapidly advances, it is imperative to defend imaging skills through continuous literacy and education for new generations. While new technologies like Artificial Intelligence are invaluable, they must supplement, not supplant, the foundational expertise of the radiologist. We must focus educational efforts on complex and evolving areas, such as ultrasound and cardiovascular imaging, where the radiologist's hands- on expertise and interpretive nuance remain irreplaceable. The ESR should take a leading role in defining the essential "core curriculum" of the radiologist, ensuring a common, high standard of diagnostic proficiency is maintained across the continent. This is about establishing the radiologist as the definitive expert in imaging interpretation.
3. Increasing the visibility of the radiologist
The value of the radiologist's contribution is often understated or invisible to the public and, sometimes, to other clinicians. We must increase the visibility of the radiologist by fostering direct communication with patients. The days of the radiologist as a 'doctor's doctor' who remains solely behind the scenes must evolve. This includes:
- Direct communication of imaging results: promoting best practices for radiologists to communicate the results of the radiological exam directly to the patient, offering clarity and reassurance. This personal interaction transforms the radiologist from an image processor into a critical clinician.
- Patient advocacy engagement: establishing stable, meaningful contacts with patient By listening to their needs and communicating the complexities of imaging, we can better align our services with patient expectations and reinforce the radiologist's role as a direct healthcare provider and partner.
4. Educating on the reasoned use of artificial intelligence (AI)
The integration of AI is perhaps the single greatest transformative force in contemporary radiology. Our role must be to educate radiologists and radiographers on the reasoned use of artificial intelligence, specifically avoiding the automation bias. We must:
- Promote critical appraisal: teach practitioners to understand not just how to use AI tools, but how they function, their limitations, and when to override their This prevents the dangerous complacency of automation bias—the over-reliance on automated systems.
- Ethical and regulatory guidance: take a proactive stance on the ethical implementation of AI in clinical practice, helping to shape european regulatory standards that prioritize patient safety and diagnostic accuracy (an active role of ESR on the implementation of the AI act must be suported).
- AI as an efficiency partner: frame AI education around its potential to eliminate repetitive tasks, thereby freeing up the radiologist to focus on complex cases, interventional procedures, and, crucially, direct patient and clinician consultation.
These goals are not abstract ideals; they are principles I have actively championed throughout my career. As a medical doctor, researcher, and university professor, I have gained solid experience in clinical coordination, research groups, and medical teaching.
Crucially, in my role as Dean, I was able to better understand the issues of the other disciplines with which the radiologist interacts. This interdisciplinary understanding is key to fostering collaborative solutions, allowing me to grasp precisely how it is possible to add value to radiology across the entire healthcare spectrum. I have experience in navigating the complex academic, administrative, and clinical landscapes necessary to enact large-scale, sustainable change.
The future of radiology rests on our ability to embrace the present moment, address the challenges of workforce and technology, and reassert the central, clinical role of the radiologist.
With these explicit goals, I hope to work on the Board of Directors, giving a distinctive mark to the future of the ESR. I am committed to dedicating my experience and energy to a mandate focused on sustainability, quality education, visible leadership, and responsible innovation.
Thank you for considering my candidacy. I look forward to the opportunity to serve the ESR.

Vision Statement
It has been a great pleasure to work in the ESR Executive Council as Finance and Internal affairs Committee Chair since 2023. This role allowed me to gain a deep understanding of the organization’s driving forces—active leadership and mentoring—which inspired me to explore new horizons, including contribution to the AI Act working group and advancing the ESR volunteering programme to the action, and I am deeply grateful for the guidance I received throughout these experiences. With this letter I humbly present my candidacy for ESR 2nd Vice-President position.
My professional interests have multiple facets – including clinical medicine, management and legal sciences degrees in my education. Clinical Radiology and research career began with a focus on Vascular and Neuroradiology, particularly Stroke CT perfusion imaging, resulting in a PhD in 2014. This was followed by a growing interest in Ultrasound, including CEUS and Elastography, which led to extensive educational and research work in Abdominal, Oncologic, and Nuclear Imaging. These contributions were recognized by the University of Latvia, where I have served as Associate Professor of Radiology since 2019 and achieved tenure as Professor in 2025.
Radiology is experiencing a constant flow of innovation and change. While the eye- catching progress of imaging technology and intelligent software for image analysis and reporting continues to transform our field, we should not allow it to distract our attention from the essence of our profession: our human presence and the comprehensive care to our patients. This is evident by expansion of interventional radiology, and the growing recognition of the importance of personal interaction in ultrasound services and in the expertise, radiologists bring to the reading room or multidisciplinary team meetings, where profound medical knowledge and a unique multimodal, multiparametric and multidimensional mindset enables us to solve complex diagnostic challenges.
As clinical demand and imaging volumes continue to grow, we must invest strongly in education through initiatives such as the ECR, ESOR, and visiting programs, to ensure highest standards in every country and subspecialty and providing expanding and joint competencies. At the same time, we must continue to advocate for our excellence, show our value to healthcare stakeholders and patients, while fostering meaningful collaboration with our clinical partners and protecting professional boundaries in the era of full access to imaging data. As an example, radiology’s leadership in global screening programs — from breast and prostate to lung cancer — clearly shows that sustainable, efficient, and improved high-quality patient outcomes are connected to strong radiology-led governance.
Our unique access to the large imaging data offers an opportunity to drive innovation and sharing among the European research community to foster the integration of various AI developers, IT specialists, economists, managers and policymakers in the united platforms, such as EUCAIM project and European Health Data Space (EHDS), shows that radiologists can play a pivotal role in shaping ethical and effective data use and become a significant stakeholder in these platforms. The European Society of Radiology (ESR) must continue to provide strong leadership and representation in European Commission and regulatory platforms to ensure that radiology’s voice remains central in these data use developments.
The ESR’s strength lies in both - inclusivity and diversity and its capacity to represent and unite members from all regions of Europe and beyond. This is our platform to remain visible in the public sphere, to guide and react to policy and reimbursement changes, and to interconnect with other specialties. As AI and digital transformation reshapes our daily practices, ESR’s leadership will be vital to ensure radiologists remain at the forefront of innovation and clinical excellence. It is crucial for our profession to be actively present in every aspect of medical practice shift, policy and in regulatory institutions and lead by example. The upcoming years will be defined by fostering collective multidisciplinary expertise - we will need to identify challenges and bring forward sustainable and good clinical strategies for AI implementation in Europe. This will require wise decisions and collaboration with industry and IT specialists.
Our challenge is active participation in this continuous flow, to tailor new policies to serve our professional needs for efficient workflow and balanced work environment. The wellbeing of radiologist must remain a core priority in all these scenarios and it should be supported by open interaction and smart access to the information, sharing up-to-date research, good clinical practice guidelines, coaching for management, leadership and communication skills.
Experience as the President of the Latvian Radiology Association for 8 years, combined with ongoing involvement in various Healthcare advisory and political positions in my home country Latvia together with active engagement within ESR, ESGAR, RSNA Committees and the multidisciplinary European Federation of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology since 2015, has provided me opportunity to build collaborative connection within Baltic region and international community.
I would be honoured to serve as 2nd Vice-president of the European Society of Radiology Society. I am dedicated to contribute my share to international leadership in radiology, to address the diverse needs and perspectives of our colleagues from all European regions, to inspire and strengthen our member active engagement within ESR, to support colleagues in their subspecialties, for staffing and management challenges, always staying fully connected and accessible to you — both professionally and personally.
It would be a true honour to serve our radiology community, therefore I am grateful for your time to consider my candidacy for ESR 2nd Vice-President position. I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with You, to shape the future of radiology with vision, unity, and purpose, advancing our profession for the benefit of patients and our wellbeing.
Yours sincerely,
Maija Radzina

Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have learned that the strength of radiology lies not only in technological progress but in our capacity to communicate — with patients, colleagues, and society. The ESR Communication & Interdisciplinary Affairs Committee offers a unique opportunity to redefine this dialogue, ensuring that radiology remains an integral voice in multidisciplinary medicine and a trusted interpreter of innovation.
Having worked across research, education, and clinical leadership, I have come to value communication as a strategic tool — one that translates complexity into understanding, connects institutions and specialties, and nurtures a shared culture of excellence. My vision for the CIAC is to foster collaboration among European subspecialties, promote coherent and transparent outreach, and enhance the visibility of radiology’s contribution to patient-centred care.
I believe that clear communication, grounded in credibility and inclusiveness, is our most powerful bridge between science and society. Through the CIAC, I would aim to strengthen that bridge and help radiology speak with one confident, interdisciplinary voice.

Motivation & Experience
Since the beginning of my career, I have felt a deep passion for radiology – a field in which high-tech and medicine converge to deliver optimal care and service to our patients and referring colleagues. In my clinical work, I specialise in abdominal imaging and CT-guided interventions. Additionally, I have a keen interest in all aspects of imaging informatics – from structured reporting and quantitative biomarkers to artificial intelligence. Integrating these technologies into our daily work could impact our profession profoundly. Therefore, I feel it is imperative for us as radiologists to lead the way in ensuring a responsible integration – for the benefit of patients and workforce alike
This passion for shaping the future of radiology has inspired me to serve in various capacities in the German Radiological Society (DRG) and the European Society of Medical Imaging Informatics (EuSoMII). My activities within these two organisations have provided me with deeper insights into the operational business of scientific societies and with the opportunity to (co-)organise their respective annual congresses.
I am deeply committed to the European idea, and I see the European Society of Radiology as being in an excellent strategic position to influence policymaking at an international level, thereby shaping the future of radiology in Europe and beyond. It would be an honour to be a part of this mission by serving as the ESR’s Financial and Internal Affairs Committee Chair. I am confident that my previous work has equipped me with all experiences needed to fulfil this role.

Teaching & mentoring
I’m deeply committed to curricular and extracurricular teaching with consistently excellent student evaluations. I’ve launched and run modern formats: hands-on vascular simulators; student peer-to-peer ultrasound courses; a compact course on AI in radiology; and an online thoracic-imaging platform. I also co-founded an Else Kröner Research College Clinician Scientist program funded with €2 million (see Research & Funding).
Under my supervision, the following degrees have been completed: 25 doctoral theses (Dr. med), 6 post-doctoral theses (Habilitation), and 3 Bachelor/Master theses.
Economic & organizational expertise
I bring broad health-economics and operational experience. After a Pharma & Healthcare fellowship at a leading strategy consultancy, I have managed organizational and budgetary responsibilities for years—currently as Institute Director in Luebeck, previously as Managing Senior Consultant in Mainz. Within the CIRSE Clinical Practice Manual, I led the sections on economics and quality management. As Chair of the ESR Audits & Standards Subcommittee, I led the development of AUDITRAD (Esperanto), advancing quality standards in radiology, and — building on this work — secured an EU4Health grant as Principal Investigator for a multi-country quality-assurance project across nine EU nations (see Research & Funding for details).
My Commitment to ESR
ECR was my first scientific congress and remains my professional home. I believe the ESR is the heart of European radiology—setting the standards that safeguard patients and elevate our specialty. I stand ready to contribute even more to this mission, and I would be deeply honoured to be elected Chair of the Quality, Safety & Standards Committee.

Motivation & Experience
As a long-standing national referee for the breast screening program, I am deeply committed to quality assurance, radiation dose optimization (as part of a working group with the French Institute for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety), and radiologist performance evaluation.
I have developed a keen interest in the challenges associated with contrast agents and quality initiative on minimizing risks in vulnerable populations, co-authoring two guideline on contrast medium extravasation injury (ESUR consensus Eur Radiol 2002) and the use of medical imaging during pregnancy and lactation (Radiographics 2012)
As President of the Hygiene committee at French society of radiology from 2012 to 2015, I was deeply involved in creating and promoting Professional Practice Evaluation guidelines for endovaginal ultrasound. This initiative aimed to establish best practices in hygiene, reduce infection risks, and align procedures with national and international quality standards.
I have played a key role in standardizing reporting through the development and validation of the O-RADS MR scoring system, a collaborative effort with the American College of Radiology. As the principal coordinator of this initiative, I led a large-scale European multicenter study involving 15 ESUR centers and 1,340 patients (2013–2018). This research culminated in the inaugural publication of the O-RADS MR scoring system in JAMA Network Open (2020), establishing a critical framework for ovarian-adnexal lesion assessment in clinical practice.
Additionnaly, I have coordinated national and international guidelines for best practices:
-EUSOBI consensus on misdiagnosis in breast imaging (Two papers in European Radiology, 2024)
- ESUR consensus on MR for endometriosis (Two papers in European Radiology 2025)
As Vice President of the French National Society of Radiology, I co-created an educational module on MR safety. Most recently, this year, I led the development of the French National Certification Reference Framework for the Periodic Assessment of Specialist Radiologists

1. My motivation and vision for ESR
I have been actively involved in ESR activities for many years, serving as a member of the ECR Program Planning Committee, as Chairperson of the Chest Subspecialty, and more recently as Chairperson of the Communication and Interdisciplinary Affairs Committee. Radiology is a rapidly evolving field that has driven significant advances in medicine, both in diagnostics and therapeutics. It was this dynamism that inspired me to pursue radiology during my time as a pediatric resident, where my clinical experience shaped my understanding of its impact.
We are currently witnessing a period of profound change in healthcare, and I would like to share my vision for the strategic decisions that will shape the future of our specialty.
- As artificial intelligence (AI) increasingly integrates into the field of imaging, it is crucial to emphasize the role of radiologists—not merely as technicians but as physicians in their own right. Radiologists play a pivotal role by synthesizing clinical, biological, and imaging data to arrive at accurate and timely diagnoses. Their work requires direct communication with patients and collaboration with other healthcare professionals. The European Society of Radiology (ESR), through its Patient Advisory Group, has been actively working on improving communication practices for radiologists of all experience levels. The development of diagnostic consultations by radiologists, for secondary analysis of imaging files, particularly for complex cases, will increase our visibility to the public.
- To enhance visibility within the medical community, it is essential to conduct independent research, especially in fields where imaging plays a central role One such area is cancer screening through imaging, which is why I have obtained funding from the French Ministry of Health to conduct a lung cancer screening study in women, evaluating the role of AI as an alternative to double human reading.
- Increasing specialization within radiology is essential to ensure that our analyses have a meaningful and lasting impact on patient care. As medical imaging becomes more advanced, radiologists must go beyond surface-level interpretations to provide insights that directly influence clinical decisions and treatment plans. This requires not only technical expertise, but also a comprehensive understanding of disease clinical manifestations, their progression, potential complications, and available treatment options. The ESR-endorsed subspecialty diplomas (Level III) formalize advanced expertise, equipping radiologists with the specialized knowledge necessary to tackle complex cases and enhance their role in multidisciplinary care.
- At the same time, maintaining cross-disciplinary expertise is essential, particularly for emergency diagnoses. Through the ESR’s ongoing educational programs, radiologists can continue to sharpen their skills across multiple disciplines. This broad knowledge, combined with our 24/7 availability, positions radiologists as indispensable players in healthcare systems. Optimizing imaging techniques and evaluating new technologies are responsibilities that radiologists, with their unique expertise, are best suited to undertake, further solidifying their essential role in healthcare
- Radiological expertise is particularly valuable in multidisciplinary settings—not just in oncology, but across many areas of medicine. Radiologists should be financially compensated for the time they devote to multidisciplinary team meetings, taking into account the number of cases that require radiological review or reinterpretation. The investment of time in such meetings directly contributes to better patient outcomes and cost-effective care. The concept of value-based radiology must be emphasized and expanded to demonstrate the true impact of radiology on patient care.
- Looking ahead, it is imperative to train the next generation of radiologists to work effectively with AI. Detection algorithms and automated quantification tools will enhance the reliability and reproducibility of diagnoses. These tools will run systematic evaluations in the background, saving time and enabling more personalized assessments for patients. My department has PACS-integrated AI solutions for fracture detection, assisted reading of chest X-rays and detection of lung nodules on CT scans. For the moment, these solutions are available for testing, but we'll have to build the economic model that will enable all radiologists to invest in this field.
- The expansion of interventional radiology techniques as an alternative to traditional surgery and in emergency situations is essential, and is an additional motivating factor for new generations of radiologists.
- Finally, the ESR, through its various subcommittees—covering research, education, e-health, AI, and quality and safety—will continue to promote an innovative and forward-thinking radiology, capable of addressing future challenges.

1. My experience in the field and my motivation
Close colleagues describe me as a highly motivated and most honest radiologist with a very strong dedication to clinical work, basic research, mentoring and teaching. After almost 17 years at Stanford University, I recently returned to Europe and now I would like to contribute to our Society in best and most dedicated way possible. I am convinced that I could make a tremendous impact as chair of the educational committee given the deep insights into education I had in my career on both continents, US and Europe.
In 2006, I gave the ECR New Horizons Lecture as a newly board-certified Radiologist, just before I moved to Stanford University for a postdoctoral fellowship in molecular imaging. Even during a time dedicated to basic science laboratory work, I made sure to attend as many clinical radiology teaching events as possible. It was eye-opening how experts of every radiology subspecialty interpreted radiology exams, what insight they could extract out of exams in Stanford. It was due to a well-curated team of organ-based sub- specialized and modality-lead radiologists. It was very clear to me that Stanford Radiology was an exemplary residency and fellowship program. In 2009 I joined the faculty of the Stanford Radiology Department, learning the ropes of educating the next generation of radiologists from some of the giants in radiology teaching. They did not shy away from adopting novel technology to increase their teaching outreach even further, such as Youtube teaching channels, medical zoom conferences long before that was adopted elsewhere. During my time at Stanford, the department was awarded the AuntMinnie.com
“Best Radiologist Training Program” award twice, a highly coveted distinction among academic institutions in the USA. Education was a cornerstone of that department and taken extremely seriously. To this date, I admire the rigorous training system, including fellowship training. Later, as division chief of musculoskeletal imaging, I was deeply involved in shaping the curriculum of residents and fellows in our program, helping the MSK division become the most coveted rotation for our trainees. I am proud to say, that the Stanford curriculum was and still is one of the best recognized in the US. Furthermore, I served hands-on as a direct mentor to medical students, radiology residents, and basic sciences post-doctoral students for many years and actively contributed to the highly successful CME course program of Stanford Radiology. Thus, the needs of the to-be-trained are well familiar to me, allowing me a good judgement in structuring education.
Fast forward to now, after returning to Europe last year, my experience has been that radiology in Europe has evolved very much. I am deeply impressed by the quality of the presented work and educational efforts at every conference of ESR and their subspeciality societies. I very much appreciate the structure of the ESR Diplomas and applaud the required qualifications. While we will always need generalists in the field of radiology in the appropriate setting, the future of radiology lies in training also subspecialized experts to provide the most value in patient care. Due to many wise actions in recent years, the ESR is extremely well positioned in the online teaching world. Education is the main foundation of Radiology’s future. To attract the best talent, we need to start with outreach early, in medical schools and even high schools to bring the field of radiology to the forefront of awareness in the younger generations. In the domain of continuing education, I am a big proponent of exchange among the different cultures of radiology in the form of targeted conferences, travel fellowships, direct outreach, and with an even further radius through online learning. We can all learn so much from each other. The ESR is fostering that, and I want to do my part in investing in the future of Radiology.

1. My experience in the field and my motivation
I consider my previous experience working for ECR/ESR (mentioned below), and my experience on a national level, to be an added value to better fulfill the position I am now applying for. Working for ESR/ECR has been a true pleasure and a wonderful chance to learn and to share experiences with radiologists all over Europe and the world. It has been, at the same time, a challenge and a source of fulfillment to work towards the improvement of our society and the harmonization of radiology in Europe.
It is my belief that I can serve the society in a responsible and contributive way. Moreover, my candidacy also takes into account the need for a good geopolitical fit, ensuring that Portugal, a country that usually ranks high in the number of attendees and submitted abstracts for ECR, is represented at the European level.
I sincerely have a strong commitment towards my professional tasks and undeniably believe in the advantages of teamwork. Therefore, I consider that I possess the personal conditions (including availability of time) to fulfill my duties and tasks related to the position I am now applying for. In this way, I envisage this as a perfect opportunity to contribute to the growth of our society and, ultimately, of radiology.
In this regard, promoting the ESR’s educational, research, and professional policies in member countries will be pivotal, as well as ensuring a functional liaison between ESR and national authorities, bodies, and professional organisations.

1. My motivation and vision for ESR
With 15 years of dedicated research in cancer imaging biomarkers, I am committed to advancing precision medicine through the integration of cutting-edge imaging techniques. My journey began with pioneering work in whole-body MRI for bone metastasis response evaluation at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. Now, as the leader of the Radiomics Group at VHIO (Barcelona), my focus is on multiparametric MRI studies and applying AI models to extract insights from medical images, driving innovation in cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Motivated by the potential of imaging biomarkers to transform patient care, I am passionate about expanding this research approach within the European Society of Radiology.
One of my priorities is to encouraging young radiologists and radiographers to pursue academic careers as essential point to bridging the gap between clinical practice and cutting-edge research. My goal is also to build bridges between disciplines, accelerate knowledge transfer, and bring the latest advancements in imaging to clinical practice, benefiting both health care providers and patients.
As Chair of the ESR Research Committee, some of my objectives will be to:
1. Foster collaboration across disciplines (radiologists, other physicians, radiographers, engineers and industry partners) to accelerate knowledge and bring breakthroughs to clinical practice faster.
2. Organize joint workshops focused on interdisciplinary research skills, innovative imaging technologies, and translating research into clinical practice.
3.Stablish further collaborations with pharmaceutical companies and biotechs, incorporating imaging biomarker studies into clinical trials.
4. Enhance the competence and knowledge of radiologists and radiographers in training by promoting research opportunities and facilitating access to grant applications and collaborations, particularly within European-funded consortia.
